After a long break I don’t want to wait any longer and publish my page. There are only a few projects uploaded from the early days of 3D street painting. I continue and will update the page almost daily. I ask for a little patience. Since the site is new, and possibly problems can occur,
I really wanted to paint lava and best of all over a whole street. Gerd Lange, former director of the international festival of street painters in Geldern, enabled me to paint my third large-scale 3D street painting on the Gelderner Straße. Here, too, we had to deal with rain. However, not as extreme as in Dun Laoghaire.
Earlier this year, a mild earthquake revealed a mysterious cave in London.
Initial research by scientists has shown that the cave is over 10 million years old, but should not exist in this place.
Aside from its unusual geographical location, “The Cave in London” holds a secret.
A green light shines from the depth of the lake in the cave.
Some requests are special.
“Good afternoon Mr. Müller, would you like to paint our harbor?”
What a question. Less than two months later, I’m standing on the pier in Dun Laoghaire, planning the first steps for my second large-scale 3D street painting.
The occasion is the Festival Of World Culture. Artists from all over the world who are not exactly mainstream meet here.
As you can guess, there is no internship or apprenticeship. It is not a classic apprenticeship. In terms of tax law, street painting is one of the liberal professions under artists in Germany. In Germany, artists are automatically self-employed as sole proprietors. That is, you bear the full risk of an entrepreneur.
In my eyes,
It should really glow! I dare to experiment and take luminous paint forthe lava. This is fluorescent paint with so-called glow effect under black light. For this I installed a few LED spotlights with black light. However, you can only really see the glow effect in the dark, when only the black light is on.
This is one of the most frequently asked questions in street painting. Every street performer knows them. And yes, you can make a living from it.
But – as with everything – the ingredients must be right for the bread to rise. The beginning may be difficult. There are many things to consider and you don’t want to violate any laws.
Maybe! But who goes and paints the floor for days without permission? This is only possible with chalk, because it is washed away by the rain.
This is hardly a risk even in most so-called Western countries. You don’t damage anything with the chalk. And if there are concerns, you can quickly demonstrate with water that there is nothing left.
3D is three dimensions, that’s clear. Anamorphosis, and this is how the technique has been called since the Middle Ages, turns 2D into a three-dimensional impression.
It depends on the point of view. This is fixed and is determined first when I start an anamorphic painting.
The reason for this is a law of perspective.
As in real life, everything is relative.
How well does the paint stick to the floor? If it is chalk, the question is quickly answered: Until the next rain. With paint, it depends on the quality and which binder is used. There are acrylic paints, emulsion paints, and own mixtures that are more environmentally friendly.
This mainly determines the size of the painting. But the surface of the ground is also crucial. If it’s old washed-out asphalt, then it’s easy to double the paint.
For regular sidewalk slabs that don’t take much paint, I estimate always half the area indicated on the paint bucket. Roughly estimated, this is quickly 50-80 liters in total for a 300m² picture.
Never before have I painted such a large area. Ten meters wide and at least 30 meters long. It’s a good thing I have a lot of fellow artists from Moose Jaw to help me out. We can do it because everyone is super fun to be around.
I hardly have to give instructions,
The weather was perfect. The Canadian sun shines a bit stronger than at home, but the local home remedies for sunburn help very well.
The color also takes the heat. But the picture, like all my street pictures, will fall victim to the weather. It will crumble, the paint will fade, or a strong hail will blast paint away.
we are already very close to the goal. Every move is almost a matter of course. I don’t mind the heat anymore. There are goodies everywhere that I’ve never eaten before and it smells different every meter I walk down the main street.
Beer is served only in a cage. Yes, that’s right.
On the first day already rain. Not much, but it’s enough that I can’t paint, as you can easily see. So the project starts with a forced pause. The problem is, I’m so looking forward to the picture that there’s no thought of sight seeing or strolling at all.
All beginnings are difficult.
What if it rains? The paint is far from dry. And the sky looks gloomy. Just in case, I ahbe foil and old sheets to stop the water then.

From my first 3D image in Canada, I had the desire to document the project with photos. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the right camera yet. Here I placed my Canon 5D MarkII on a tripod, made the whole thing as tight as possible and set the camera’s automatic to interval shooting. Every minute there was a photo,

Some visitors come unexpectedly. All the nicer when it’s a good friend. I always forget his last name..Lava something …. We’ve known each other forever. He is very influential and with his endless network of contacts he makes everything possible. Some projects of mine goes to his account.
However, his character is,
Love & Fear,
the opposing forces
from which
we shape our reality.
We are in the middle of the Corona period. A good friend, Sven, organized a school festival and asked me if I could do a workshop there. A separate picture would also be great I’m in! I have been hanging arround condemned to inactivity for so long. If I can’t paint a 3d street painting at least once in a while,
